Nothing Yet
JoJo still has not returned home.
Apologies again for the gigantic pics of him last night. I forgot that DW does pics entirely differently than LJ. My bad.

Our neighbors informed the local PD that a "suspicious looking black man" was "wandering around in the parking lot, looking at stuff with a flashlight." I don't know whether to be glad that our neighbors actually care about preventing crimes, or pissed that black men over 6 feet are still so very scary to some. Both, I guess. If I didn't know H, I might not want him (or anyone, really) flashlighting under my car at 3am...and again at 6am.

I've learned that our neighbors drink a LOT in the woods that surround the complex. Somebody really likes half pints of 5' o'clock vodka. That SCREAMS alcoholic to me.
Yes, there are woods surrounding my complex which means that searching for JoJo is pretty much ridiculously futile. We've spent an awful lot of time on it anyway. Bearing in mind that I am not an outside person, an extraneous walking person, or a trudging through uneven terrain person, I'm holding up reasonably well. I'm sore as fuck though. I figured he'd be someplace close, probably in the bushes. No dice. He hates being chilly so I'm kind of nervous as to where he might have gone to get warm.

Aside from not making it in to work today so I can continue to sit in front of an open door wall (and periodically research the dumpsters since he loves to dig up trash), I'm doing okay. When Clarence died, I was almost hospitalized because I took it so incredibly badly and had so much guilt that I'd failed her. I was awake for four days straight and I think I was also off my meds because "Fuck this shit, I'm done!"
This situation with JoJo is even more overtly my fault, so the fact that I'm no longer hysterical shows just how much progress I've made being mentally odd.

Anyway, here's a smaller snap of JoJo, my little man:

Come the fuck home already, buddy!

Actually dudes, I posted this on Dreamwidth and am crossposting it here. It doesn't mean I love you any less. Honest. On Dreamwidth? Add me: "Wednes."

Did you contact the Humane Society? Is he microchipped by any chance? I hope he comes home soon. :(

We haven't called them yet, just the complex manager and maintenance guys. If he's not home by tomorrow we'll be putting up signs. There is a very real possibility that he ran into another building and somebody took him in. He has no chip and no collar, so it wouldn't be a stretch to think another household would take him. He's adorable, and super lovable. If he doesn't come home, I'm totally going to pretend that's what happened.

And no, we did not get either of our cats chipped.

I'd definitely suggest giving them a call just in case someone brings him there, so they have a report on file. They'll ask you to come and check, but they also post strays on their website so you can check there, too. But it's good to have a report, in case someone finds him and reports him there but doesn't actually bring him in. Maybe put up some signs/posters? Duh, you just said you'd do that.

I hope he comes home!

Yeah, the time Neka went missing in a hurricane she came home three days later dry and not at all hungry. Twice I got her back from neighbors who found her but didn't know she was mine until they saw my signs. She was a complete pro at getting "rescued" and then liberating herself at a later date. It worried me sick every damn time - the crying, the begging, the praying, the crying... and she would just chirp at the backdoor and come right in like nothing had ever happened. I must have lost her half a dozen times or more, and she always came home.

JoJo is so charismatic, he's probably conning some lonely dude out of his pizza rolls one building over. Put up some signs and get your boy back! ;)

Good luck, my friend. I'll do some begging of the universe for you!

Thank you.
We have signs around now so that is good. Our nosiest neighbor came by to express her condolences. But she's just trying to get me to not kill her and take her apartment at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. I'm still optimistic.

It is always difficult and stressful when a pet scurries off. I hope he comes home soon for some laplove!

Thinking of you guys as we speak! Boiled ham has always worked for our cats in the past. Fingers crossed your kitty returns soon!

Thank you.

He used to be an outside cat, but we've had him inside since 2005. I'm hoping he's having fun and not hiding scared someplace. I'm learning way too much about my neighbors walking around this complex all damn day.

I would be beyond hysterical. I lost a dog when I was a kid and panic when I can't find Aksu and *know* there's no way he could have gotten out of the apartment. So believe me you've got my well wishes on this one. JoJo, get home now!

You're going to have to shave him to see how bad the new ink is, silly gato.

HEY JOJO GET YOUR BLACK ASS HOME NOW!

I think his cat food by the door may help to bring him back. It may also lure other kitties, but Jojo is likely nearby, and awaiting the perfect time to get back into the house.

I sure hope so.
I just put some cheese out there next to hit black cat toy.

I am pretty confident that he'll come home.

I hope he comes home soon. I have to be in your neck of the woods anyway tomorrow, so I will pay extra attention in my own walks in the woods....*hug*

Thinking good returning home thoughts and hoping to see your "He's back!" post real soon. *fingers crossed*
